The contention against the “financialization” of nature is primarily grounded on potential abuse by polluters, especially those with the capacity to pay for their destructive activities even if the damage done is irreparable (Ouma et al., 2018). The discussion on economics cannot be completely ignored in conservation though, given its impact to the livelihood of the community.

Posted on November 18, 2020The FPE has successfully initiated the learning sessions on climate financing and climate rationale as well as inputs to crafting of project portfolio on climate change for submission to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) as its seeks accreditation as a Direct Access Entity. Through a series of CSO consultations on GCF in 2019, FPE gathered a total of 157 people from National to Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao islands. One hundred thirty three (133) leaders representing 111 CSOs discussed about climate rationale and how does one differentiate “traditional” biodiversity conservation initiatives to factor in the new realities brought about by a changing climate.
