CSU to host ASEAN international confab
Posted on September 26, 2017The Catanduanes State University (CSU) will hold the ASEAN International Symposium on Research and Scientific Publishing this coming September 28 – 30, 2017 at the CSU Auditorium and Amenia Beach Resort. Dr. Minerva I. Morales, CSU President and Program Leader of the Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (IDIG) of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the university’s project dubbed as Building the Culture of Publishing Research Outputs (BCPRO) among faculty members of CSU and partner institutions, told that the event is focused on key issues concerning bio-diversity, conservation and resource management sustainability, equity and climate resiliency.
The event was organized in partnership with the Kuroshio Science Research Unit and Journal based at Kochi University, Japan; the Foundation Philippine Environment and CARITAS-Philippines, and the Provincial Local Government Unit of Catanduanes headed by Hon. Governor Joseph C. Cua.
Dr. Jimmy T. Masagca, CSU’s Director for Research and Development Services, and BCPRO Principal Investigator, explained that this institutional innovation project of CSU that was funded by CHED in the amount of P8 million, forms part of the symposium in which the faculty of higher education institutions in the province, particularly those in the CSU, would be enhanced in their research capabilities and networks, and in their research publishing, among others.
The event opens up invitation to research enthusiasts from all over the country, especially in Bicol, and in some parts of the ASEAN states where some resource speakers of renowned expertise as authorities in their respective fields of academic discipline are expected to come during the symposium. The organizers told that those willing to attend would be charged P4,000.00 registration fee inclusive of live-in accommodation, meals, and training kits with certificate of participation.
The activity will likewise feature paper and poster presentations, plenary lectures, and keynote speeches of research authorities from Indonesia and Japan who will share insights along tropical biology, environmental change, and sustainable development. The three-day symposium will revolve on the theme, “Challenges and Trends of Scientific and Academic Publication of Journals in the Universities of the ASEAN Region: Relevance, Equity and Quality.”(CSU PRMCS)
