Project Goals and Objectives

Remnant Institute of Alternative Medicine (RIAM) aimed to conduct a training to develop the skills and knowledge of participants on indigenous medicinal plant conservation, production and utilization, specifically, to share, learn and understand the beneficial effects of medicinal plants; develop, enhance the capability of participants to collect, conserve, and propagate medicinal herbs; practical applications of medicinal herb production practices and technologies, and introduce the entrepreneurial potential of local herbal production.

Outputs and Outcomes

The project raised awareness among farmers, women, out of school youth from Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Capiz, Guimaras, Antique, and Aklan) that medicinal gardening / farming is one of the agricultural commodities that contribute to environmental preservation with a livelihood and health care component. The project has further strengthened the Philippine Agri-Herbal Tourism Program that supports its members, and promotes environmental preservation, livelihood and health care through Organic Medicinal Farming. The participants have also extended their new skills and knowledge to their respective communities.
